It sounds like a handheld PC, more or less. :) I really like the idea
that GPS is integrated. Considering what hackers have been able to do
with the built-in webcam and motion sensor in the Apple laptop line, I
think it's perfectly clear that systems become significantly more useful
as they gain I/O devices. There is so much equipment that ought to be
standard on a PC. Just think of what could happen if GPS devices were
standard in every laptop!

Anyway, I definitely want the PIM functionality, specifically the
calendar and a list-making function. Over the coming months, I'm going
to have a lot of little things to do and a lot of appointments and tasks
to keep track of. The address book is basically useless for me since
it's integrated into my cell phone, and a phone book that's integrated
with a cell phone is a lot more useful than a phone book that's
integrated with a calendar and note taking device.

Ideally, I'd like something like an iPhone with all the PIM stuff,
phone/data connectivity, and portable entertainment integrated. The only
problem is that the state of the cell phone industry makes me want to
vomit. "You may use only AT&T as a service provider, only play videos in
APPLE's format, only play songs in APPLE's format, only run APPLE's
software, and only sync with APPLE's software or we'll break your
iPhone." Any device that's confused about whether or not it belongs to
me has no place in my home or pocket.

Cheers,
Eric
