Hi. I know a number of successful people who didn't go to college so
I'm not in the you-have-to-do-it-or-else camp. And it sounds like you
are gaining experience and doing the right things, and I have to
expect that being bilingual always looks good on a resume. Having said
that, I'd encourage you to go back to school anyway if you are
fortunate enough to have the time and the money. It's not because you
*have* to in order to succeed, but it can make your road to success a
lot easier (not to mention college can be a lot of fun). And if you
think you *might* want to, it's easier to do while you're young.
I didn't interpret the earlier poster's comments as trying to be
snotty or mean: there are potential employers out there who will think
exactly those things about a candidate without a degree. Right or
wrong, I heard the same arguments for going to school (a degree shows
you can complete something, are willing to learn, etc.) when I was in
college a long time ago, and it's probably the reasoning behind a lot
of jobs that list a degree as a prerequisite. The bottom line is that
college can get you considered in places that might not consider you
otherwise, so you have more choices. But it doesn't guarantee success
any more than the lack of it will prevent you from being successful.
You mentioned you didn't enjoy your major, so if you do decide to go
back find something that interests you so it will be a fun and
enriching experience. There are lots of majors that I've seen listed
as being relevant or preferred for web analytics positions
(statistics, math, engineering, marketing, information technology,
etc.), but I've worked with people in the web analytics field with
different degrees (physics, economics, and Chinese history, for
example) and no one has seemed to be at a disadvantage because of it.
For the record, I'm no longer working in the field in which I got my
first degree either, but I don't regret it for a second.
It's a big decision, and ultimately no one can make it but you. I hope
this has been helpful. Good luck!
