Urm... Knoppix is Debian's unstable (Sid) version with customized hardware
detection. I've never tried to install it. It makes life very easy when on
the road or when you need to rescue a file system that your own kernel might
not hve modules to support.
As for the USB storage device, I have a card/stamp reader that Libranet see's
just fine. I think MDK and SUSE also have out of the box support for these
devices too. If not, it shouldn't be too hard to google up a quick fix.
