touchpad madness

hey gang:

Maybe it's just me, but this HP laptop drives me friggin nuts when I'm typing 
away.  Sometimes my mouse simply jumps to a random area in a document and I 
realize I'm typing in a wrong field.

Is this a touch pad issue, or is it my big fat thumbs bumping the touch pad?  
My old time gateway touch pad never seemed to do this. . .

It absolutely drives me nuts!
