Our clients have had the same issues, and they we were told the same thing... the old modems are a huge headache for Suddenlink right now...

I think Suddenlink is saddled with a big problem right now. The guy who came
here said that Suddenlink's servers are having trouble reliably communicating
with the Motorola cable modems. He replaced mine free of charge, which I
thought was unusual since I bought and owned my Motorola modem free and
clear. I think they are putting out fires all over the place with these
ancient Cyber Surfer and Wave modems. He said we are the only place in the
country that still has these boat anchors. Anyway, if you are experiencing
data slowdowns and stallouts, and you have one of these Motorola boat
anchors, you might need to upgrade. There is a list of acceptable modems on
the suddenlink site, or if you threaten to complain to the Better Business
Bureau like I did, they might give you one free of charge.
