Hi all:
I'm shopping for a new cell battery for my old Motorola V262. I started my
google search and noticed a new Google Checkout" button. I clicked on it and
selected only to view the google checkout items. Now this is where it gets
interesting. On the main page is a listing for a 950mah battery, when I
click on it to buy, I'm shown a new page for a 700mah battery FOR A SLIGHTLY
LARGER PRICE. . . Is this bate and switch? Is it legal? How about all the
non-geek folks who don't even know what 'mah' is and why it matters--they
could so easily be suckered by this sham.
This is the main page listing items for the search:
http://www.google.com/products?q=motorola+v262+battery&btnG=Search+Products&checkout=1&sa=N&lnk=next&start=10
Here's the page I get when I select the 950mah battery:
http://www.cellularfactory.com/pro_fro.jsp?c=9140&t=6429
Note how it went from listing a 950mah battery for $8.89 to a 700mah battery
for $10.89.
Tricky! BUYER BEWARE! In fact the page doesn't even list a 950mah battery.
Be careful out there folks. Still, it's odd this is happening from
google--I'd think they would have a checkbox or something to alert the google
folks to this behavior.
I would attach screen shots, but our listserver always rejects them.
regards
